Triggers and Tips?

Everyone is different. What works for one person, may not work for another. And that saying applies to just about every aspect of life.

For me it is especially true in regards to weight loss. After hours of scouring weight loss blogs, watching The Doctors (LOVE that show!) and reading various other websites, I have a rather large list of quick weight loss tips. I am willing to try them all.

I am not doing anything drastic or unconventional. I just make sure to drink my water every day. I try to eat 6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. This doesn’t always happen, and I need to make it a priority. I have also cut way back on meats, eating only white, lean meat. We need to eat more fish around here.
Also, at lunch and dinner, I make sure to pack in the veggies, which is hard because I like so few of them.

I had been eating a lot of soy-based products, which I recently found out is a big no-no for someone with thyroid issues. *sigh* I shall miss my Silk Chocolate Soy Milk.

My main issues have always been with pasta and potatoes and bread. It is not so much a problem in that it is high calorie or anything, but for me it is a trigger food. It makes me want more bad stuff. I can never seem to just have a cup of pasta. And then, an hour later, I am hungry again. Bah.

Being a carboholic really sucks sometimes.

Do you have any trigger foods? What small changes have you made, that turned out to be a really good thing?

uhhh gastric bypass worked for me.
    pfft…
Seriously, around here all we eat is chicken, fish, scallops, shrimp and sometimes pork. We eat sweet taters, squash, zucchini, onions, mushrooms, butternut squash, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs. Tea and coffee, beer and Jagermeister and red bull. The last 3 is what causes the mess, huh?

In the past, when I was trying to lose weight, I found that having a snacking between meals kept me from wanting to pig out and eat bad stuff. Some of the things I would eat as a snack were low-fat yogurt, cottage cheese and pineapple, those little carrots with low-fat dressing and fruit.

Brownies are my weakness – I can eat the whole pan. I have to stay away from sugar completely in order to stop craving it. I didn’t used to be that way. I used to never eat sweets but as I’ve gotten older, I crave them.
